Dr. Mun Yuk Chin, Ph.D., LP, HSP (She/They)

Hello, I am a licensed counseling psychologist who specializes in relational and systemic trauma, family-of-origin concerns, life transitions, and identity exploration. As a queer immigrant, I especially enjoy working with people of color, LGBTQ+ clients, and individuals who are navigating questions of identity and belonging.

I believe that we heal best through our relationships, both with ourselves and with others. In therapy, I actively work with clients to deepen their self-understanding and to build more meaningful connections with themselves and with other people. My practice is grounded in multicultural psychodynamic therapy. This means that I will help you explore how your sense of self, emotional processes, and relationship patterns, may reflect the “lessons” you have gathered from your early relationships with people and systemic injustice. I see our pain and symptoms as signals that our capacities for coping require more care and expansion. I will use our therapeutic relationship to affirm and empower you to explore new ways of being in our complex world by first trying them out with me. Through this work, I hope that you will be able to navigate life with more congruence, joy, and fulfillment.

I strive to create a space that feels genuine, compassionate, and collaborative. My style is contemplative, emotion-focused, and practical as I want therapy to feel both emotionally meaningful and useful in your daily life. I see the therapeutic relationship itself as an important part of healing, and I value showing up as a real person in the room with you. This means that I will bring my curiosity, humility, and often humor into our work.
